If we take Heinz von Foerster's theorem that, "Only those questions that are in principle undecidable, we can decide" (original emphasis, see "Through the Eyes of the Other, von Foerster, 1991) then the determination that certain mathematical statements are undecidable is a rather important discovery. Taken together, von Foerster and Friedman might mean that mathematics can finally decide.
