Cheryl Praeger is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Western Australia. As well as attending International Congress of Mathematicians 2018 as a mathematician, she is also here as a past executive member of the International Mathematics Union and former Foreign Secretary of the Australian Academy of Science. We asked Cheryl about her mathematics, her work encouraging the next generations of mathematicians, and her role in the early career of Fields Medallist Akshay Venkatesh.
