Welcome to our new website!
Welcome to the newly redeveloped Plus website. You'll still be able to find all the content from our old site and any URLs you might have saved or used in links still work. The updated site now has a cleaner look, as well as some new features we are really excited about.
A huge thanks to our web developer Dane Rossenrode!
Prepare for landing
One of our main aims in redeveloping plus.maths.org was to make it easier for our users to find what they are interested in within our large archive, which now contains thousands of articles, podcasts, videos and more. You can still browse this content as you could previously using the menu bar at the top of the page.
However, we know that our audience comprises some specific groups of people: those visiting Plus because they are engaged in education (as school or university students or teachers), media professionals and policy makers who need accessible information about mathematical topics related to current affairs, and those who come to Plus out of curiosity about mathematics and its role in the world around us.
We've therefore created bespoke landing pages for these audiences. These highlight topic areas that we think are relevant for the specific audience: areas related to school and university curricula for the education landing page and areas relevant to current affairs, such as artificial intelligence and climate change, for the media and policy landing pages. The curiosity landing page gives access to our Maths in a Minute library and showcases some of our most popular content on Plus. You can find the landing pages on the top right menu bar, or by clicking on the links in this paragraph. We will continually update them with new content reflecting what is going on in the world.
Search and keep
In addition to the new landing pages we have also improved our site search. When you click on the search bar at the top of a page you will be able to type in your search term as you were before. However, you will now also see a pop-up window showing popular topics and tags — from algebra and architecture to chaos and computer science. Clicking on topics and tags under "More" in the top menu bar takes you to a page which also gives access to content produced for our various collaborations with research groups and organisations.
When you have found something you particularly enjoy, you can click "add to favourites" just under the content item's title. Clicking on "My list" in the menu bar at the top of a page will display all your favourite items (you need to create a user account to do this). This allows you to easily access your favourite content any time and anywhere you like.
Questions, bugs, and staying in touch
If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment on this or the relevant page. You can also get in touch through our contact page. We have done our best to iron out the bugs, but it's a large site with a lot of content, so things may have slipped through the net.
And while it's not new, it's worth highlighting that you can subscribe to our podcast, and to our email newsletter which delivers our latest content straight to your inbox, on our subscribe page.
We hope that you enjoy our new site!
